Position: Tax Senior Location: San Jose, California, United States Company: Deloitte Tax LLP Salary: $77, - $144, Overview: Deloitte Tax LLP is seeking a Tax Senior in San Jose, CA to oversee tax consulting projects for clients in diverse industries. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or a related field and at least 18 months of experience as a Tax Senior or in a related occupation. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing federal and state income tax returns, utilizing tax software and research tools, and assisting with tax examinations and provisions. This role also involves mentoring and coaching junior team members and requires 5% domestic travel. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee tax consulting projects for clients in diverse industries under the supervision of Tax Managers - Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues encountered on engagements - Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal clients and assist with the supervision of assignments - Identify tax planning opportunities and implement tax planning projects - Provide tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries - Stay up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues - Develop a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems - Take responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas and meeting client deadlines - Contribute to the successful completion of projects - Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary - Actively participate in engagement planning - Review tax returns Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) - At least 18 months of experience as a Tax Senior or in a related occupation - Experience preparing federal and state income tax returns for C-Corporations and Partnerships, and reviewing and validating taxable income and tax adjustments - Experience utilizing tax software, including GoSystem and Corptax, to prepare federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, and calculate estimated tax and process filings - Familiarity with tax research tools, including BNA, CCH, and RIA Checkpoint - Experience performing analysis for FIN 48, effective tax rate reconciliation, and valuation allowance, and preparing tax deferred tax schedules and tax review memos - Knowledge of preparing quarterly estimated tax payments for corporations and preparing schedules for federal and state income tax returns and state franchise tax - Familiarity with preparing quarterly and annual provisions in accordance with ASC 740 - Experience assisting corporations in Internal Revenue Service and state tax examinations, responding to Information Document Requests (IDRs), and drafting response memos - Knowledge of preparing financial statement release by completing tax provision calculations and documentation - Familiarity with performing risk assessment procedures on tax adjustments, determining accounts for detail testing, and performing testing through sample selections - Mentorship and coaching experience with junior staff - Position requires 5% domestic travel Benefits: - Comprehensive benefits package - Opportunities for professional development and growth - Diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture Our Culture: At Deloitte, we value our people and offer a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture that empowers individuals to be their authentic selves and contribute their unique perspectives.
