Overview:
- Nearly 200 practicing attorneys in headquarters office and over 300 attorneys nationwide
- DOI's mission is to serve as the Nation's premier conservation agency
- Work affects the lives of millions through various offices and bureaus
- Diverse workload includes extensive litigation and program counseling

Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on environmental, administrative, and Indian law issues
- Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and motions
- Assist with discovery in active federal cases
- Participate in conference calls and strategy sessions with agency counsel
- Attend hearings and meetings in the Washington, . area

Qualifications:
- Students eligible include: undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time, public policy graduate students, first-year (second semester), second- and third-year law students, and law school graduates enrolled in graduate law programs at least half-time
- Must be in good academic standing and provide official documentation from school
- Native American candidates strongly encouraged to apply

Salary:
- Intern positions are without compensation
- Eligible to participate in the Transit Subsidy Benefit Program
