Position Summary

- Seeking a strategic and creative Unclaimed Property Tax professional with a minimum of 3 years of experience in state and local tax and at least 1 year of experience in Unclaimed Property tax.
- Join one of the largest Multistate Tax practices in the United States as a Tax Senior.
- Work with a team of over 1,000 professionals nationwide, including former state tax auditors and administrators, industry personnel, tax practitioners, and technology experts.
- Gain experience in state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, unclaimed property, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.
- This role is open until May 31st, 2025.

The Team

- Deloitte’s Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group is one of the largest State and Local Tax (SALT) practices in the United States.
- Our Multistate Tax professionals have extensive experience with the requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states.
- Our services include state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, unclaimed property, business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax outsourcing, excise tax, property tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy.

Work you’ll do

- As a Tax Senior in the Unclaimed Property Tax group, you will provide state tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors.
- Grow your technical knowledge in state taxation by working on large, complex tax projects.
- Have access to exceptional training and resources.
- Develop supervisory and leadership skills.

Responsibilities include:

- Applying appropriate services to complement an in-house unclaimed property team or outsource all unclaimed property responsibilities.
- Gaining knowledge of an assessment, audit, or voluntary disclosure agreement process.
- Developing written communications for clients, legal counsel, and state representatives.
- Tracking client requests and submissions and assisting with record review.
- Performing data analysis to identify potential unclaimed property risks.
- Developing strategies to mitigate potential unclaimed property exposure.
- Aiding in drafting final deliverables and reports for client and state submission.
- Demonstrating critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems.
- Using a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current industry or sector trends.
- Reviewing your work and that of others for quality, accuracy, and relevance.
- Seeking opportunities to gain exposure to different situations, environments, and perspectives.
- Using straightforward communication to influence and connect with others.

Qualifications

Required:

- Ability to work in a hybrid model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in state and local tax and at least 1 year of experience in Unclaimed Property tax.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney.
- Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications: CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner).
- Ability to travel up to 10% based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred:

- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD and/or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience.
- Supervisory experience.

Salary Range:

- The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
- At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
- A reasonable estimate of the current range is $68,180 to $144,300.
