A law firm is seeking an Estate, Trust, and Probate Attorney for their Stockton, CA office. The Estate, Trust, and Probate Attorney will provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients on estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. Duties include drafting estate planning instruments, advising on tax strategies, representing clients in court proceedings, and staying updated on relevant legal developments. The ideal candidate must hold active membership in good standing with the California State Bar and possess a Juris Doctor degree, with preferable experience in estate planning or probate law.

 

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on asset management and distribution strategies for death or incapacity.
  • Prepare trusts, wills, advance health care directives, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents.
  • Assess client competency and protect against undue influence in estate planning changes.
  • Advise trustees on administration matters and accounting procedures.
  • Draft and file petitions, accountings, and other court documents for probate matters.
  • Represent clients in probate or trust disputes in court.
  • Stay informed on changes in estate planning laws and advise clients accordingly.
  • Research, evaluate, and resolve complex legal issues.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, including attending community events to generate business.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as timekeeping and invoice review.
  • Assign and supervise work of other attorneys and staff.

 

Requirements:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Exemplary ethical standards.
  • Preferably 2+ years of legal practice experience, particularly in estate planning or probate.
  • State Bar certification as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate law and/or LLM desired.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

State Bar certification as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate law and/or LLM desired.
