Duties

  • Litigation: Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad spectrum of employment-related claims and agency charges of discrimination.
  • Representation: Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, in mediations, and arbitrations for employment matters, including class/collective actions, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract disputes, employment torts, and non-compete cases.
  • Legal Advice: Provide advice and counsel to employers on various labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Procedure Understanding: Stay abreast of current court and employment-related agency (state and federal) procedures.
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in legal matters.
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibit strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Experience: 5+ years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for an employment law background.
  • Bar Admission: Active admission to the Virginia Bar or the ability to obtain admission quickly.
  • Legal Procedures: Understanding current court and employment-related agency (state and federal) procedures.

Skills

  • Litigation Expertise: Extensive experience in the litigation of employment-related claims.
