A law firm in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney to assist in managing a thriving insurance coverage practice. The successful candidate will oversee junior associates, handle cases from inception through trial, and possess expertise in first-party insurance coverage.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with management of the insurance coverage practice, with cases throughout the Midwest.
  • Provide oversight of junior associates on assigned files.
  • Own the defense and prosecution of coverage matters from inception through trial.
  • Conduct 30(b)(6) depositions and depositions of insureds, public adjusters, engineers, and building contractors.
  • Conduct examinations under oath and author coverage opinions.
  • Defend coverage and extracontractual liability matters in state and federal courts.
  • Prosecute declaratory judgment matters on issues of insurance coverage.
  • Provide oversight and advice of counsel to claims personnel and in-house counsel on property insurance appraisals.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensure in both the State of Illinois and the . District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, or other applicable federal district court.
  • 5+ years of experience in first-party insurance coverage litigation.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to supervise junior associates, manage files, and report directly to clients.
  • Ability to provide writing samples prior to interview, including deposition transcripts and motions.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Licensure in the State of Illinois and the . District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, or other applicable federal district court.

 

Skills:

  • Established understanding of first-party insurance coverage, with an emphasis on property insurance.
