In this role, you will provide legal counsel and support to Amazon's environmental compliance, storage and transportation of hazardous goods, and extended producer responsibility teams in North America. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside several of Amazon's compliance teams and help build new processes and tools to ensure Amazon's compliance with environmental and safety requirements. As an Assoc Corporate Counsel, you will be responsible for advising on regulatory and operational requirements, monitoring upcoming changes in regulations, and providing legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools. You will also play a key role in responding to environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries and engaging with federal and state regulators. This position is based in Arlington, VA, with the option to work out of our New York, NY or Seattle, WA locations. Key responsibilities include: - Providing day-to-day legal advice to Amazon's compliance teams on regulations governing operations, facilities, and products - Monitoring and advising on upcoming regulatory changes and maintaining existing compliance processes - Advising on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools - Developing internal processes and practices to support environmental and hazardous goods governance requirements - Leading Amazon's response to environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries The ideal candidate will have experience with US federal and state environmental regulations and regulators, as well as global environmental and technical regulations. Strong organizational and project management skills, along with the ability to work independently and contribute to cross-functional teams, are essential for success in this role.
