Position Summary

Deloitte is seeking a strategic and creative federal tax professional with experience in real estate taxation to join our Real Estate Services Tax practice as a Tax Manager. In this role, you will provide federal tax consulting and compliance services to clients in the Real Estate industry sector. You will work directly with clients, manage tax engagement teams, have access to specialist resources, and utilize the latest tax technologies to serve clients. If you have a solid understanding of Subchapter K, partnership allocation methodologies, and Real Estate Investment Trust qualification rules, then this is the career opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

- Assist clients with life events for partnerships, such as formations, mergers, and initial public offerings
- Use proprietary technologies to streamline clients' tax compliance processes and achieve worldwide compliance
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships in the real estate industry
- Advise clients on various tax issues, including REIT qualification, Tax Reform impact, business restructuring, and tax controversy
- Oversee complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and data analytics
- Manage engagement workflow, team resources, and billing
- Mentor and develop junior staff, including those in our . India office, providing leadership, counseling, career guidance, and guidance on work/life balance

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of corporate or international tax experience
- One of the following accreditations: CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, CFA, or CFP
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM preferred
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated research skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership taxation, REIT taxation and qualification, partnership allocations, tax compliance, due diligence, and acquisition/disposition planning and structuring
- Management experience preferred
