A law firm in St. Louis is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a strong background in patent preparation and prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or computer science. The ideal candidate should have 2+ years of relevant experience, exceptional academic achievements, and excellent communication skills. The role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Duties:

• Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities with a focus on electrical engineering or computer science.
• Collaborate with clients and inventors to understand and evaluate inventions for patentability.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications, responses to office actions, and appeals before the USPTO.
• Provide legal counsel on intellectual property matters, including patent portfolio management and strategy.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Preferred experience in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
• Additional experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and/or machine learning/artificial intelligence (in addition to data science) and hardware security is encouraged.
