A law firm is seeking a Privacy and Data Security Associate Attorney to join its team in Denver. The candidate will be responsible for counseling clients on consumer-facing data privacy and cybersecurity compliance matters, ensuring adherence to a variety of regulations including CPA, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, FCRA, FERPA, GDPR, GLBA, HIPAA, and TCPA. The role involves providing expert legal advice, conducting research on evolving privacy laws, drafting and reviewing privacy notices and policies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align strategies with business goals.

 

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on consumer privacy matters and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Stay abreast of evolving privacy laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review privacy notices, policies, terms of service, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in developing privacy compliance programs for clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies with business goals.
  • Provide legal advice on technical aspects of privacy law compliance.
  • Handle data breach investigations, notifications, privacy assessments, and data mapping exercises.
  • Draft and negotiate data protection and security terms in commercial transactions.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience in the privacy and cybersecurity space.
  • At least one IAPP certification.
  • Demonstrated experience counseling clients and drafting relevant documentation for privacy and security compliance matters.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and research skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of complying with comprehensive privacy laws.
