Job Overview: A law firm in Jackson, MS, seeks a diligent and experienced Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial litigation procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently.

Duties:

  • Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Confidently take and defend depositions.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and managing attorney(s) to understand the client’s concerns.
  • Represent clients in court, at mediations, and or settlement conferences.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel or insurance companies.
  • Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm’s clients.
  • Communicate clearly and logically (orally and in writing) with regulatory agencies, courts, counsel, clients, and managing attorney(s).
  • Organize and manage documents from multiple sources during multidistrict and other complex litigation.
  • Manage caseload effectively and efficiently.
  • Try simple matters with little supervision.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence (.) from an accredited law school.
  • 3 years of litigation experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Time management, organization, efficiency, and reliability are essential qualities required.
  • Licensed to practice law in Mississippi. Being licensed in Louisiana is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of commercial litigation procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Education:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Mississippi. Additional licensure in Louisiana is a plus.
