A law firm in Atlanta is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, possess solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exhibit superb writing and communication skills. The candidate must hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, although other engineering disciplines, coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products, will be considered. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a mandatory requirement.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of inventions related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal professionals to gather necessary information for patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for clients in compliance with USPTO regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide legal advice on patent-related matters, including infringement and validity opinions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patent strategies for clients in the medical devices and mechanical engineering sectors.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews and intellectual property audits.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
  • Superb writing and communication skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Advanced degrees or additional certifications are a plus.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
