The United States Trustee Program (USTP) is seeking law student volunteers for the Fall 2024 term. This is an excellent opportunity for second- and third-year law students to gain hands-on experience in bankruptcy law and litigation while working with a national program that is dedicated to promoting the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system. USTP is a litigating component of the Department of Justice (DOJ) with 21 regions and 89 field offices throughout the United States. As a law student volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced attorneys and professionals who are committed to fairness and integrity in the administration of the bankruptcy system. Organization: United States Trustee Program (USTP) Job Title: Law Student Volunteer Experience Level: Second- and Third-Year Law Students Location: Multiple Locations Across the United States Application Deadline: Monday, April 15, 2024 About the Organization: The USTP is a litigating component of the DOJ with a mission to promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system for the benefit of all stakeholders. With 21 regions and 89 field offices, the USTP has broad administrative, regulatory, and enforcement authorities in bankruptcy cases, including consumer and complex corporate reorganizations. The USTP is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment and ranks in the top 30 percent of federal agency subcomponents in the 2022 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings. Job Description: As a law student volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work in two different positions within the USTP: Executive Office for . Trustees (EOUST) Law Intern and Field Office Law Intern. The EOUST is based in Washington, DC, and interns must be available to work in-person during their internship. The Field Office Intern positions are available in 89 field offices located throughout the country. Both positions offer hands-on experience in bankruptcy law and litigation, including conducting legal research, providing data analysis, and assisting with drafting and filing motions and objections. Interns may also have the opportunity to attend bankruptcy hearings and 341 meetings. Qualifications: Successful candidates will be second- and third-year law students with excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a desire to work as part of a team. This is an excellent opportunity for students with a background and interest in bankruptcy, litigation, administrative law, policy, and legislation.
