Responsibilities:

- Manage a team of professionals in providing state and local tax compliance and consulting services to clients
- Research and analyze state tax issues for clients, including nexus determinations and taxability analyses
- Advise clients on state and local tax controversies and assist with defending against state audits
- Develop and execute tax projects, including due diligence and voluntary disclosure projects
- Prepare technical memoranda on state and local tax issues for clients
- Maintain active communication with clients, make recommendations for business and process improvements, and manage expectations to enhance value
- Network and build strong relationships with clients and the community
- Mentor and develop team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy
- Stay current on applicable strategies and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
- Ensure client profitability targets are met through effective management of staffing and billing/collections

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's or advanced degree preferred
- CPA, CMI, or JD/LLM required
- 5+ years of experience in state and local tax, preferably in a professional services firm
- 2+ years of supervisory experience, with mentoring and counseling experience preferred
- Strong leadership skills and ability to provide exceptional client service
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on applicable strategies
- Strong ethical knowledge and commitment
- Ability to see the big picture and attention to detail
- Eligibility to work in the . without sponsorship preferred

Compensation:

- The compensation range for this role is $86,220 to $182,770, with actual compensation influenced by factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location
- This role is also eligible for an annual bonus plan

- Manage multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives
- Research state tax issues and provide guidance to clients on state and local tax controversies
- Plan and execute tax projects, including due diligence and voluntary disclosure projects
- Prepare technical memoranda on state and local tax issues for clients
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and the community
- Mentor and develop team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy
- Stay current on applicable strategies and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
