PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The . Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, offers a Legal Internship Program during the spring semester for 1L, 2L, and 3L law students. This program provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in advising agencies on legal aspects of their mission, as well as participating in complex civil litigation before administrative tribunals or assisting the Justice Department in litigating matters before federal courts. Interns will work alongside experienced attorneys and have the opportunity to attend hearings and meetings in the Washington, . area.

SCHEDULE AND DURATION:
The spring program runs from June 1 to August 1, and is open to students who are enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate or graduate program, or are recent law school graduates enrolled in a graduate law program at least half-time. Interns may work part-time or full-time, and can choose to work in-person or virtually. The deadline to apply is August 1, with all required documents due by 11:59 . Eastern Standard Time (EST).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct legal research on various environmental and administrative law issues, as well as issues involving Indian law
- Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and motions
- Assist with discovery in active federal cases
- Participate in conference calls and strategy sessions with other agency counsel and officials
- Attend hearings and meetings in the Washington, . area

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current law student or recent law school graduate
- Must be in good academic standing and provide official documentation from their school
