A law firm in Glendale, CA, is seeking a Patent Agent/Technical Advisor with at least 3 years of experience. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for preparing and prosecuting patent applications filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices. Additional duties may include providing technological guidance to attorneys, counseling clients on IP strategy, prior art analysis, and IP portfolio management.

 

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications filed with the USPTO and foreign patent offices.
  • Provide technological guidance to attorneys in documenting inventions.
  • Counsel clients on comprehensive IP strategy, including prior art analysis and IP portfolio management.
  • Assist with foreign patent applications if necessary.
  • Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or advanced degree) in Electrical, Computer Engineering, and/or Telecommunications.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution or a related field.
  • Industry experience in electrical, computer engineering, or telecommunications preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with specialized software and online programs as required for patent prosecution.
