A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney for their Atlanta, GA, office. The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications:

Job Overview:

  • Serve as a Patent Attorney for a prestigious law firm, specializing in intellectual property law.
  • Contribute to the firm's success by providing expert legal counsel in patent matters, particularly in software, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Duties:

  • Conduct interviews with inventors to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications by USPTO regulations.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on patent-related matters to clients.
  • Conduct patentability searches and assessments.
  • Perform due diligence reviews related to intellectual property matters.
  • Participate in patent litigation proceedings as needed.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered to practice before the United States Patent Office.
  • Preferably possess a degree or relevant work experience in software and e-commerce.
  • Technical knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning is highly desirable.
  • 1-4 years of experience interviewing inventors, drafting, and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Prior law firm experience preferred.
  • Georgia Bar admission
  • Arizona Bar admission is strongly preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one state, preferably Georgia.
  • Patent Bar admission is required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical concepts and articulate them in legal documents.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Negotiation and client management skills.
