Job Overview: The Litigation Defense Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing cases through all phases of litigation, conducting investigations, and preparing for court proceedings. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication and advocacy skills.

Duties:

  • Independently manage cases through the litigation process, collaborating with the case team as needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact investigations to gather evidence and build a solid defense.
  • Handle document productions and assist with various discovery tasks.
  • Prepare witnesses for deposition, ensuring they are well-prepared to provide effective testimony.
  • Take and defend depositions, representing the firm's clients during legal proceedings.
  • Review, summarize, and analyze various records, including medical records, to support cases.
  • Assist in juror research to contribute to jury selection and case strategy.
  • Prepare for court hearings, ensuring all necessary documentation and arguments are organized.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and attend trials as required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in all phases of litigation defense.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Active licensure in both Missouri and Illinois.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong advocacy skills to effectively represent clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in both Missouri and Illinois.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Case management and litigation strategy expertise.
  • Witness preparation and deposition skills.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Competency in reviewing and summarizing various types of records.
  • Effective courtroom presence and trial preparation capabilities.
