A law firm is seeking a Litigation Defense Attorney:

Job Overview: The Litigation Defense Attorney will play a pivotal role in managing all phases of litigation defense, including conducting investigations, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in court proceedings. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience and the ability to work independently on complex cases.

Duties:

  • Independently manage cases through the litigation process, both autonomously and as part of the case team.
  • Conduct comprehensive fact investigations to gather evidence and build a strong defense.
  • Handle document productions and assist with various discovery tasks.
  • Prepare witnesses for deposition, ensuring their readiness for effective testimony.
  • Take and defend depositions, representing the firm's clients during legal proceedings.
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, and motions to advance the legal argument.
  • Review, summarize, and analyze medical records to support cases.
  • Prepare for court hearings, including oral arguments of motions.
  • Contribute to trial preparation, provide support to the trial team, and perform direct and cross-examination of witnesses.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in all phases of litigation defense.
  • Active licensure in both Missouri and Kansas is mandatory.
  • Ideal candidates will also be licensed in Arkansas.
  • Ability to work independently on complex insurance defense cases.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in Missouri and Kansas (Arkansas licensure preferred).

Skills:

  • Legal research and analysis proficiency.
  • Case management and litigation strategy expertise.
  • Witness preparation and deposition skills.
  • Strong legal writing abilities for drafting pleadings, briefs, and motions.
  • Review and analysis of complex medical records.
  • Courtroom presence and oral argument capabilities.
