A law firm is seeking an Immigration Attorney for their Los Angeles, CA office.

Job Overview:

The Immigration Attorney will provide clients with legal representation and strategic counsel in various immigration matters. This role involves representing clients in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, conducting client consultations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings in Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage the workload of cases efficiently
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at centers
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications/packets and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients
  • Develop case strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Immigration Law Experience
  • Team player with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with fellow associates
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload effectively
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California (or eligibility for admission)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases
