The law firm is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team in St. Louis. The ideal candidate should have a background in biomedical or mechanical engineering coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. This role requires a high level of academic achievement, JD degree, admission to the USPTO, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors and technical experts to understand and analyze inventions.
  • Perform legal research and analysis related to patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity.
  • Respond to office actions and other communications from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Provide strategic advice on intellectual property matters to clients.

 

Requirements:

  • JD degree and admission to the USPTO.
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products are acceptable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.

 

Education:

  • JD degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering (or related field).

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Skills:
