The . Department of the Interior (DOI) is seeking talented and dedicated law students for their Legal Internship Program for the summer after their first year of law school (1L). This program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in advising agencies on legal matters and participating in complex civil litigation.

The Office of the Solicitor is responsible for the legal work of DOI, with over 500 attorneys nationwide. This diverse workload includes working with bureaus such as the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and more. The legal interns/externs will have the chance to work on a variety of environmental and administrative law issues, as well as Indian law.

Salary: Intern positions are without compensation, but are eligible to participate in the Transit Subsidy Benefit Program.

Qualifications: Applicants must be students and in good academic standing. Eligible students include undergraduate students enrolled at least half-time, public policy graduate students, first-year (second semester), second- and third-year law students, and law school graduates enrolled in graduate law programs at least half-time.
