A mid-level Patent Agent position is available at the law firm in Kansas City. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The candidate should hold a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, with a preference for expertise in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security. Admission to the USPTO is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Duties:
- Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities, focusing on electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
- Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to gather necessary information for patent applications.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications, respond to office actions and communicate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Provide technical and legal advice regarding patent portfolio development and strategy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
- Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
