As a critical member of the office/region leadership team, the Tax Managing Director will utilize their expertise in tax compliance and consulting services to serve our high net-worth clients. Private Client Services (PCS) at BDO is a boutique practice within our firm, offering a high touch approach to serving high net-worth individuals, their families, family offices, C-Suite executives, athletes, and entertainers. With extensive experience in estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance, charitable giving, executive compensation, and cash-flow planning, our PCS team is dedicated to providing tailored and comprehensive services to our clients. As a Tax Managing Director, you will: Lead tax and consulting engagements, utilizing your expertise to identify and address client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities Act as the primary client contact, providing executive presence and presenting issues and resolutions to clients Review complex tax returns and provide written and verbal feedback to preparers Direct communication with government agencies for complex matters Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research, and develop sound recommendations for clients and advisors Expand your understanding of tax concepts and knowledge through client engagements and current tax developments Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track Utilize strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills to assist clients with individual and business decisions Assist with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities, including billing, recruiting, and participation in CPE activities and training Build and maintain relationships with BDO professionals and external sources The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics; Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred Ten or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or law, with expertise in private client services Prior supervisory experience CPA, EA, or Attorney credentials required; other professional degrees or certifications preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with tax compliance process software and research tools Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Leadership abilities, including managing and monitoring key performance indicators and actively participating in practice matters Technical skills, including an in-depth understanding of high net-worth individual and family tax issues, recognized as an industry expert in specialized field of taxation Business development skills, including developing a network of key financial decision makers and referral sources People development skills, including supervising, developing, and training employees and acting as a career advisor At BDO, our purpose of helping people thrive every day is at the heart of everything we do.
