A law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking an Environmental and Water Law Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental and/or water law matters. The ideal candidate will have experience working with public sector clients and possess strong legal research, writing, and client communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in representing public sector clients such as cities, counties, and special districts
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Conflicts of Interests
  • Prepare discovery and pleadings for litigation or adversarial proceedings at state administrative agencies, such as the State Water Resources Control Board
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis within specific timelines
  • Draft a variety of legal documents ranging from client memorandums to law and motion work in adversarial proceedings
  • Manage preparation and responses to written discovery
  • Interface with clients, demonstrating professionalism and competence in environmental and/or water law matters

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental and/or water law matters for public and/or private clients
  • Experience with public sector clients preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Conflicts of Interests
  • Excellent legal research and analysis skills
  • Superior writing skills for various legal documents
  • Ability to handle and manage tasks with limited supervision
  • Proficiency in client communication and conveying legal and strategic issues

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Relevant certifications in environmental law or water law are advantageous

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analysis abilities
