## Overview The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Northern District of California is seeking a Volunteer Legal Intern for their Criminal Division in San Francisco, CA for the Summer of 2024. This volunteer position is open to law students who have completed at least one year of law school and are enrolled at least half-time in an accredited law school. The volunteer will assist Federal Prosecutors with prosecution and investigation of misdemeanors and felony offenses, as well as research and write legal briefs and memorandums of law. ## Job Description **Job Title:** Volunteer Legal Intern, Summer 2024 (Criminal Division - San Francisco, CA) **Organization:** USAO Northern District of California **Location:** San Francisco, CA **Salary:** Unpaid **Minimum Weeks Required:** 10 weeks (full-time, 40 hours/week) **Qualifications:** - Completed at least one year of law school - Enrolled at least half-time in an accredited law school - Must be a . citizen - Must pass a background check **Job Duties:** - Assist Federal Prosecutors with prosecution and investigation of misdemeanors and felony offenses - Research and write legal briefs and memorandums of law ## About the Office The USAO for the Northern District of California, which covers an area from Monterey to the Oregon border, prosecutes all federal crimes. The office is comprised of three offices: San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland. Approximately 100 AUSAs work in the San Francisco office, which contains 60 criminal division AUSAs who prosecute economic, narcotics, violent, corruption, immigration, and other federal crimes.
