Job Title: Senior Environmental Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Seattle, WA, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Attorney to provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients on a wide range of environmental law matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in environmental compliance, cleanup work, transactional support, and litigation defense.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance and support to clients in meeting environmental compliance requirements, including chemical reporting, stormwater management, and waste characterization and disposal.
  • Assist clients in cleanup efforts for contaminated sites, with a focus on the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and state analogs.
  • Respond to government information requests, investigations, and enforcement actions related to environmental matters.
  • Defend clients in citizen suits and toxic tort litigation.
  • Advise clients on the environmental aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, including risk identification, negotiation, and drafting of environmental provisions in transaction documents.
  • Obtain and review environmental site assessments and other due diligence materials.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited university.
  • Active membership in or commitment to applying for the Washington State Bar.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental law.
  • Experience in matters involving state and federal cleanup of contaminated sites, particularly with CERCLA and state analogs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and self-motivation.
  • Commitment to client service and team success.
  • Community engagement experience.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited university.
  • Active membership in or commitment to applying for the Washington State Bar.
