A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Associate Attorney to oversee regulatory aspects related to the development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation of energy projects nationwide. The role will primarily focus on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues, with a specific emphasis on the renewable energy industry.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis regarding FERC electricity regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and other project documents.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on regulatory compliance for energy projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-8 years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations.
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions.
  • Strong understanding of energy law and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar in California (preferred).

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in conducting legal research and analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in drafting legal documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client communication and collaboration.
