A law firm located in Scottsdale, AZ, is seeking a Mid-Level Native American Law Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Native American Law and 3-5 years of experience with federal law impacting tribes.

 

Job Overview: The Mid-Level Native American Law Attorney will handle transactional work related to Native American Law, including intergovernmental negotiations and agreements, Indian healthcare clinic contracts and operations, leasing and land use, gaming and hospitality, tribal employment matters, and drafting legislation and ordinances.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct transactional work related to Native American Law
  • Handle intergovernmental negotiations and agreements
  • Assist with Indian healthcare clinic contracts and operations
  • Manage leasing and land use matters
  • Provide legal counsel on gaming and hospitality issues
  • Address tribal employment matters
  • Draft legislation and ordinances

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Native American Law
  • 3-5 years of experience with federal law impacting tribes
  • California and/or Arizona Bar admission
  • Excellent academic credentials

 

Education:

Degree in Native American Law

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of federal law impacting tribes
  • Tangible legal experience working in Native American communities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate intergovernmental agreements
  • Proficiency in drafting legislation and ordinances
