A law firm in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in advising clients on a wide range of environmental matters, including mergers and acquisitions, permitting, compliance, and risk mitigation. This position requires strong writing and communication skills, as well as expertise in federal and state environmental laws and regulations. The attorney will work closely with colleagues and clients, handling complex environmental issues across various industries.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental matters related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing.
  • Provide guidance on permitting requirements for stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Assist clients with risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Handle legal issues related to emerging contaminants and renewable energy projects.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, enforcement actions, and litigation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across offices and practice groups to address interdisciplinary environmental issues.

 

Requirements:

  • Law degree (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one . jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Strong familiarity with federal environmental laws and standards, including CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, and CAA.
  • Transactional experience in environmental law.
  • Knowledge of state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites preferred.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Law degree (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in at least one . jurisdiction.
