Job Overview:

A law firm based in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Mid-Level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, possess solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exhibit superb writing and communication skills.

Duties:

• Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities related to medical devices and mechanical engineering innovations.
• Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal teams to gather necessary information for patent applications.
• Perform prior art searches and analyze patent and scientific literature.
• Provide legal advice on patentability and freedom-to-operate issues.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
• Alternatively, degrees in other engineering disciplines and substantial patent experience with medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered.
• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

Certifications:

• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

• Strong understanding of medical devices and mechanical engineering principles.
