# Commercial Counsel

Are you an experienced contracts attorney looking to impact a fast-growing business? Employ is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our Legal & Corporate IT team and take ownership of our sales team's understanding of negotiation and renewal best practices. This is a remote, full-time position in the United States.

## The Opportunity

As Commercial Counsel, you will be responsible for all aspects of commercial contracting, including deal structuring, and drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts. You will also be integral to providing legal support to a wide range of Employ's internal customers and developing scalable infrastructure to help Employ grow. This role is critical to scaling the Employ business, and the right person will have a huge impact on Employ’s future success.

## The Team

Employ’s Legal Team is responsible for supporting all departments within the business, particularly supporting go-to-market teams in the Sales and Customer Success organizations with contract support and guidance on data protection questions posed by Employ’s Customers.

## Responsibilities

- Become an important member of the GTM legal team that's charged with reviewing and negotiating all customer agreements, safeguarding us while facilitating our rapid revenue growth
- Cultivate relationships while providing strategic advice on our go-to-market efforts
- Help maintain our GTM legal agreements, ensuring that all terms and policies are excellent documents that allow both rapid revenue growth and long-term stability of the Company
- Understand Employ's product offerings, technology, security/data protection systems and policies, and standard commercial and other contracts, to provide a foundation for providing legal support throughout Employ
- Work with Finance, Security, Product & Privacy to communicate and enforce applicable policies as they relate to the global contracting processes
- Handle major engagements and negotiations, balancing expansive revenue growth with long-term risk
- Be a dotted line manager to junior GTM legal team members, mentoring, and being a point of escalation

## Requirements

- Juris Doctor degree and licensed to practice law in any state within the United States
- 4-7 years of contract drafting and negotiation experience at a technology company and/or law firm
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent business judgment and business acumen with the ability to assess contract risks unique to Employ’s business
- Previous experience owning business contracts, external vendor contracts, and everything in between
- Desire to work cross-functionally across many departments partnering with everyone from the C-suite to Account Executives
- Success in identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices
- Strong interest in learning the Employ business and finding new ways to contribute
- Familiarity with data protection laws in the United States and Europe
- Preferred: IAPP certification

## Salary Information

The salary for this Commercial Counsel position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
