Preferred 5-10 years’ experience defending First Party Property/Homeowner claims/cases including EUO’s, Appraisals, lawsuits involving breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

Job Location:

Remote working from your primary residence in Southern California, with office work, travel, and appearances as needed to adequately defend the Company.

Job Description:

As a Property Litigation Attorney, you will provide legal representation to the Company before courts, arbitration panels, umpires, referees, or administrative bodies relating to the defense of First Party Property/Homeowner Claims and/or Lawsuits. Your responsibilities will include assisting claims on various issues, conducting legal research, preparing motions and other legal documents, taking and defending depositions, and mentoring less experienced attorneys.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal representation to the Company in court, arbitration panels, and administrative bodies
• Assist claims on various issues, including preparing legal opinions and providing legal advice on appraisals
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, oppositions and replies to motions
• Take and defend depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and expert witnesses
• Mentor less experienced attorneys
• Complete comprehensive review of new file assignments and summarize discovery responses

Qualifications:

• Law degree and admission to the Bar in state(s) where practicing
• 5-10 years’ experience defending First Party Property/Homeowner claims/cases
• Comprehensive knowledge of insurance, coverage, evidence, and civil procedure
• Effective communication, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with minimum direction and manage a high volume of cases
• Must meet established Company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status
