A law firm is currently seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney for its San Antonio, CA, location. The attorney, reporting to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, will play a crucial role in managing a caseload, client interactions, and collaborating with the dynamic Criminal Defense Team of attorneys and legal assistants. Will provide legal counsel to clients, attend pretrial hearings, manage court appearances, conduct legal research, and ensure effective case management. Experience in handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels is essential, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
  • Manage a caseload and handle client interactions.
  • Collaborate with the Criminal Defense Team of attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents for their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing advice.
  • Manage court appearances and trials, draft motions, interview witnesses, and perform legal research.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Effectively manage the workload of cases.
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to determine potential case benefits.
  • Accrue additional evidence to support clients' cases or arguments against prosecution charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and determine essential goals of case strategy.
  • Gather information from witnesses and important experts supporting client positions.
  • Handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of criminal defense experience.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law.

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Experience in court appearances, trials, and drafting legal motions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
  • High-level interpersonal skills.
