Job Title: Tax Manager, Unclaimed Property Tax; State and Local Tax (SALT) Experience: 5+ years in state and local tax with a focus on unclaimed property tax Location: 28 locations nationwide Position Summary: - Seeking a strategic and analytical Tax Manager to join the Unclaimed Property Tax group within Deloitte's Multistate Tax Services (MTS) group. - This role offers the opportunity to work with one of the largest State and Local Tax practices in the United States, providing tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base. - Recruiting for this role ends on May 31st, 2025. The Team: - Deloitte's MTS group is the largest State and Local Tax practice in the United States, with over 1,000 professionals nationwide. - Our Multistate Tax professionals have significant experience with the requirements and nuances of jurisdictions in all 50 states, and offer a range of services including state income and franchise tax, indirect tax, business restructuring, and more. What you'll do: - Assess state and local tax burden for clients and recommend solutions that align with their business objectives. - Help clients comply with complex laws and requirements related to unclaimed property, such as uncashed payroll checks and aged accounts receivable credits. - Assist multi-state companies with state unclaimed property matters, including audit defense and annual reporting. - Review compliance processes and make recommendations for improvement. - Assist with unclaimed property audits and represent clients in meetings with auditors. - Conduct research and draft technical memoranda on unclaimed property compliance rules. - Supervise, mentor, and develop staff. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. - One of the following accreditations: CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or CFE. - Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced degree in tax, law, or related field. - Demonstrable tax knowledge across various state and local tax areas. - Previous consulting experience from a large accounting or law firm. - Strong communication and writing skills. - Familiarity with tax software and interest in learning new technology. Salary Information: - Wage range estimation: $95,900 to $203,060. - Eligibility for discretionary annual incentive program based on individual and organizational performance.
