Tax Manager - Real Estate Tax (Central Region Office Locations)

Are you an experienced tax professional with a passion for solving complex federal tax issues? Do you have a background in serving real estate owners and operators? Are you looking for an opportunity to use the latest tax technologies in the real estate industry and develop creative strategies to serve clients? If so, Deloitte’s Real Estate Services Tax practice is looking for a Tax Manager to join their team.

Responsibilities:

- Providing compliance and consulting services to Real Estate Investment Trusts, Real Estate Private Equity Funds, and real estate joint ventures and operating partnerships.
- Using proprietary technologies to streamline tax compliance processes and achieve worldwide compliance.
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships in the real estate industry.
- Advising clients on various tax issues, including REIT qualification, Tax Reform impact on passthroughs and other real estate clients, business restructuring, and tax controversy.
- Overseeing complex federal tax compliance and consulting projects using state-of-the-art technology and data analytics.
- Managing engagement workflow, resources, and billing.
- Mentoring and developing junior staff, including those in the . India office.

Qualifications:

- Ability to work within a hybrid work model and co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- 5+ years of corporate or international tax experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- One of the following accreditations: Licensed CPA, Licensed Attorney, Enrolled Agent, Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work and clients served.

Preferred qualifications:

- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 or large CPA firm.
- Experience with . clients and a basic understanding of . tax.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective research skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Solid understanding of real estate tax technical and transaction skills.
- Management experience.

Salary range: $84,980 to $169,650, with potential for additional discretionary annual incentives.
