A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Jefferson City. The Patent Agent will play a crucial role in assisting patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. The successful candidate will work closely with inventors on newly created products, identify patentable inventions, and draft patent applications with the support of the patent team. Duties:

  • Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors on newly created products.
  • Identify patentable inventions and conduct research on current patented technologies.
  • Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team.
  • Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent.
  • Conduct regular ability searches.
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Consistently meet billable hour requirements.
  • Solve client challenges and respond to client needs.
  • Identify and provide suggestions for day-to-day problems.
  • Prioritize and complete daily tasks effectively.
  • Share information and keep the team informed about progress and problems.
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback to peers; train new employees.
  • Work autonomously and anticipate future business needs.
  • Attend required training and accept planned changes willingly.
  • Work as a member of the team, understanding the team's goals and diverse needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
  • Preferably have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • USPTO Registration is required.

 

Experience:

  • 1 year of professional experience.
  • Preferably have 2+ years of experience.
