A law firm in Denver is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience serving as general counsel to special districts or local governments, or alternatively, experience in real estate, employment law, public financing, or as a judicial law clerk. The candidate will provide legal services related to statutory compliance, public financing, construction, contracting, non-partisan elections, and the provision of public services. They will handle a broad range of legal matters involving local government and special district law, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and representing clients in various proceedings.

 

Duties:

  • Serve as general counsel to special districts or local governments, addressing legal matters related to statutory compliance, public financing, construction, contracting, non-partisan elections, and public services provision.
  • Research, write, and apply legal knowledge and skills to municipal and special district matters.
  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, policies and procedures, agreements, legal memoranda, resolutions, and court documents.
  • Attend client meetings, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Review legal documents for sufficiency and potential implications.
  • Interpret charters, codes, ordinances, resolutions, and policies for compliance with the law.
  • Communicate with partners, paralegals, clients, and other professionals.
  • Maintain client files and manage deadlines.
  • Lead client matters to resolution, coordinating with other consultants as needed.
  • Interact and communicate with clients, consultants, attorneys, and local government officials.
  • Utilize document management, billing, and other software programs effectively.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Colorado.
  • 0-5 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • General knowledge of municipal, local government, and special district law, real property, contracts, public utilities operations or regulation, employment law, risk management, legislation, and public finance.
  • Prior experience as a judicial law clerk is beneficial.
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree.
