Farmers is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trial Attorney to join our team in the San Diego/Inland Empire/OC area. As a Trial Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in various tort cases and handling matters of moderate to great complexity and/or exposure. This is a virtual position with in-person appearances as required, and a comprehensive benefits package including an annual bonus potential, generous 401k, auto allowance, medical/dental/vision, and much more. As a Trial Attorney at Farmers, you will: - Handle cases with unique legal or procedural issues involving moderate to severe injuries and/or damages, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs, and attendance at hearings, conferences, interviews, trials or arbitrations. - Assist other attorneys in cases as assigned. - Functionally supervise attorneys who are assisting in the handling of particular cases. - Consult with members of the Claims Departments regarding insurance policy questions and the legal aspects of handling personal injury claims. - Keep supervisor informed of work being done for clients and any problems encountered. - Maintain and update computerized litigation support systems for assigned caseloads. - Perform other functions as assigned. To be successful in this role, you will need: - A high school diploma or equivalent. - A Bachelor's degree. - A law school degree and membership in good standing of the State Bar in the state where the position is located. - At least three years of experience as an Attorney, including civil jury trial experience or equivalent dispositive ADR experience or comparable outside experience. - The ability to handle cases of moderate to great exposure and/or complexity with minimum supervision. - Public speaking skills and the ability to handle high case loads in adversarial or confrontational situations. - A valid driver's license.
