A law firm in Pasadena, CA, is actively seeking a dedicated Supervising Immigration Court Attorney to lead the establishment and growth of a court program to serve a nationwide client base, particularly Spanish-speaking undocumented immigrants. As a key stakeholder, the candidate will manage a team of attorneys and legal support staff, oversee immigration court proceedings, and stay abreast of legal developments.

Duties:

  • Lead the establishment and growth of a high-volume, nationwide court program.
  • Manage a team of attorneys and legal support staff, ensuring the successful execution of the practice plan.
  • Collaborate with operationally focused attorneys and staff to develop procedures, processes, and best practices for the immigration court team.
  • Supervise and manage the immigration court team, including attorneys and paralegals.
  • Set goals and effectively manage team workloads to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Oversee the creation of templates for legal briefs and drafts, serving as a foundation for immigration court filings.
  • Train and supervise team members, ensuring adherence to established procedures and best practices.
  • Collect and report team data, progress, and needs to the legal team leadership.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings, drafting and editing legal documents as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contract attorneys to provide nationwide coverage.
  • Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, administrative, and case law changes affecting immigration law.
  • Some travel may be required to various offices for team training and supervision.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • An active member in good standing of a State Bar.
  • 5+ years of experience in immigration court and removal proceedings, including filing with EOIR.
  • 2+ years of managerial experience.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.
  • Experience managing and motivating a team of attorneys and legal support staff in a positive and collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with a State Bar.
