A law firm seeks a Trust and Estates Attorney for their Irvine, CA office. The attorney will be responsible for highly customized drafting of foundational estate planning documents, advising clients on the design and structure of revocable living trusts, conducting research on estate planning and tax issues, and evaluating and updating template documents and procedures. Strong drafting skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of estate and gift tax are essential. An LLM or strong background in tax law is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Draft highly customized foundational estate planning documents
  • Meet with and advise clients on the design and structure of revocable living trusts
  • Research estate planning and tax issues
  • Evaluate and update template documents, letters, and procedures
  • Interact comfortably with clients and management
  • Adapt and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, responding to client demands
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate professionalism and flexibility in project assignments

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
  • Member in good standing of the California Bar
  • 5+ years of estate planning experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with trusts and estates in a mid- to large-sized law firm setting preferred
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of estate and gift tax
  • Broad knowledge of corporate matters affecting closely held companies helpful
  • Interpersonal skills

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
  • LLM or strong background in tax law preferred

 

Certifications:

Member in good standing of the California Bar
