A law firm in Phoenix is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions. Experience with matters involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs, as well as advocacy before state utility commissions, is highly beneficial.

 

Job Details:

  • Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Manage matters involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs and organized power markets.
  • Advocate before state utility commissions.
  • Deal with power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters.
  • Utilize strong academic background to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
  • Work collaboratively within a team setting, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exercise superior judgment in handling complex energy regulatory issues.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Requirements:

Active Bar license in the state.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Experience:

4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience.

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience handling regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Familiarity with the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Knowledge of matters involving ERCOT or other ISO/RTOs.
  • Advocacy experience before state utility commissions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Superior judgment in dealing with complex regulatory issues.
  • Ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
