A law firm in Albuquerque is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Attorney to join their team. The candidate will play a crucial role in handling a variety of legal tasks, from reviewing and drafting correspondence to preparing cases for trial, arbitration, and mediation. The successful candidate will also engage in client meetings and negotiations with adjusters and collaborate with the paralegal team to ensure efficient case management.

 

Duties:

  • Timely review, edit, and approve all correspondence drafted by CM/Paras.
  • Be available 8 hours per day to attend meetings, hearings, depos, or trials as required.
  • Show consistent growth in the complexity and value of cases handled.
  • Meet with clients to evaluate cases for representation.
  • Gather and assess facts pertinent to liability, damages, and coverage.
  • Posture cases by articulating client and office action items.
  • Explain representation agreements and obtain client signatures.
  • Evaluate necessary investigations and communicate tasks to the paralegal team.
  • Determine the applicability of UM/UIM (Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist) coverage.
  • Posture cases for trial or negotiations based on thorough evaluations.
  • Obtain client authorization for negotiations and meet with the Lead or Full Value Committee to set firm evaluation amounts.
  • Negotiate with adjusters, keeping clients informed throughout the process.
  • Prepare cases for mediation, including necessary documentation.
  • Speak with adjusters, build and maintain negotiation relationships, and aggressively negotiate or posture cases with adjusters as appropriate.
  • Make determinations about filing suits or pursuing further negotiations.
  • If filing suit, prepare clients for the litigation process.
  • Draft pleadings and discovery for lawsuits.
  • Compose discovery responses and requests.
  • Prepare cases for trial, arbitration, and/or mediation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of New Mexico.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client interactions and negotiations.
  • Commitment to professional development and growth.

 

Certifications:

State Bar admission in New Mexico.
