Based in either Georgia, Washington, Texas, Colorado, or Indiana, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance and strategic advice on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance laws and regulations worldwide. This includes monitoring and advising on legal developments, ensuring compliance with ESG laws, and mitigating potential risks. The role also involves collaborating with various cross-functional internal stakeholders and serving as a key participant in the ESG Disclosure Steering Committee. The Senior Corporate Counsel, ESG Compliance will report to the SVP & Associate General Counsel, Corporate Legal & ERM, and will have a significant impact on existing and future ESG-related compliance systems. This includes preparing for future requirements, such as the US SEC climate rules, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and California’s climate disclosure legislation, among others. The successful candidate will have at least eight years of law firm or in-house experience in legal compliance, with a strong understanding of various US state and federal and international ESG laws. They should also have experience with voluntary reporting frameworks, such as SASB, GRI, TCFD, and CDP, and be qualified to practice law in the US.
