The law firm is currently seeking a Junior to Midlevel Patent Agent specializing in Life Sciences for their Raleigh office. The ideal candidate will possess a degree or . in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, or a . in Chemical Engineering. Admission to the USPTO is preferred. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience, demonstrating the ability to draft patent applications effectively. This role requires exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to excel in a collaborative team environment.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications in the Life Sciences field.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific concepts.
  • Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio development and management.
  • Stay current on relevant patent laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Participate in client meetings and discussions to understand their business needs and goals.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree or . in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, or a . in Chemical Engineering.
  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm or in-house.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
