Job Overview: A law firm in Salt Lake City, UT seeks a highly qualified Mid-Level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with a strong academic background, solid law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate should possess 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience, hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering (other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products are acceptable), and be a JD holder with admission to the USPTO.

Duties:

• Conducting thorough analysis and review of inventions in the medical devices and mechanical engineering fields.
• Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical products.
• Collaborating with inventors, clients, and colleagues to ensure accurate and comprehensive patent protection.
• Providing legal counsel on intellectual property matters, including patentability and infringement issues.
• Conducting legal research and staying current on relevant case law and industry developments.

Requirements:

• JD degree and admission to the USPTO.
• 3+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• High level of academic achievement.
• A solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Bachelor or advanced degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO.
