Litigation Associate Counsel - Cleveland, OH Sherwin-Williams is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Litigation Associate Counsel to join our legal team in Cleveland, OH. In this role, you will be responsible for managing claims and litigation, providing legal advice and guidance to business units, and mitigating legal risks for the company. Responsibilities: - Effectively handle assigned legal activities for business units, functions, or legal practice areas - Manage claims and litigation, including case reviews, fact-finding and analysis, e-discovery, witness preparation, depositions, and arbitration or trial preparation - Support projects and teams by providing legal support and solutions to the company's business units or corporate departments - Provide focused and practical legal advice on business operations and the impact of current or anticipated laws, rules, and regulations - Research, develop, and coordinate implementation of legal solutions to substantiate positions - Identify and analyze existing and emerging legal risks and develop strategies to manage them - Stay up-to-date on new regulations and emerging legal risks and provide proactive advice and counsel to business units and corporate functions - Develop understanding of the operational model of the supported business unit or enterprise-wide function - Engage, communicate with, and advise mid-management and operational business clients - May manage or provide work direction to support staff (paralegals, admins, fellows, law clerks, etc.) Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree and license to practice law in applicable jurisdiction - Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, or claims management - Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team - Proven judgment and ability to evaluate and manage risk - Experience clearly articulating complex legal concepts to a lay audience - Prior federal or state clerkship experience preferred - 5+ years of post-licensure experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, or claims management preferred - Experience as an in-house attorney providing guidance and counseling to business, particularly in connection with litigation or pre-suit disputes preferred - Experience training company personnel on substantive legal topics preferred Technical/ Skill Requirements: - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - General working knowledge of legal software - Experience with eDiscovery platforms and electronic case management tools preferred About Sherwin-Williams: At Sherwin-Williams, we believe in careers that grow with you.
