A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Associate Attorney with a strong focus on consumer collection law. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, with a commitment to providing practical assessments and advice while advocating for clients both in and out of court. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a dedication to maintaining integrity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Duties:

  • Provide thorough and practical assessments and advice to clients within the consumer collection industry.
  • Advocate for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Document account/file activity in accordance with firm and client policies and procedures.
  • Travel to various courts in the state and effectively handle all aspects of a case’s litigation life cycle.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations, formulating legal opinions for review by supervising attorney.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate matters to an amicable resolution.
  • Maintain responsive communication with clients to develop and sustain client relationships.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain informed of changes in local, state, or federal laws and court procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (California preferred).
  • Experience in or a strong desire to become experienced in the consumer collection industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and energized environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining integrity and achieving results.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of consumer collection law or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
