A law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney with the following responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications:

Job Overview: The Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation to clients facing criminal charges, appearing in court proceedings, and conducting thorough legal research to support case strategies.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents about their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings to represent clients and provide post-hearing advisement on optimal strategies.
  • Manage all aspects of court appearances, trials, motion drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.
  • Analyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedents and develop appropriate strategies.
  • Effectively manage the workload of assigned cases to ensure timely and quality representation.
  • Provide thorough legal analysis to clients, highlighting potential case benefits.
  • Gather additional evidence to bolster the client's case or counter prosecution charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and strategize case goals in consultation with witnesses and experts.
  • Gain experience in Criminal Defense, particularly in handling complex federal, state, and local cases.
  • Collaborate with fellow associates in team settings, offering and accepting assistance and strategic input.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility to waive in.
  • Interest in gaining experience in Criminal Defense.
  • Strong interest in handling complex criminal cases at various jurisdictional levels.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
