The Patent Counsel- Biologics & Gene Therapy role at Neurocrine Biosciences is a full-time position based in San Diego, California. Salary Information:
- Annual base salary: $202, - $292,
- Annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary

Job Description:
- Responsible for leading and developing global strategies and managing day-to-day intellectual property efforts for multiple biologic and gene therapy programs
- Identification of inventions, patent drafting, and prosecution relating to biologics and gene therapy
- Conducting strategic IP due diligence, including analyzing the patent portfolios of the Company’s competitors and potential collaborators
- Identifying opportunities for expanding the Company’s IP position and collaborating with members of various discovery, development and business groups within the Company
- Working and communicating with collaborators and other external strategic partners in connection with developing a global IP strategy
- Reviewing and negotiating license agreements and IP clauses in other agreements
- Managing the use of outside legal counsel globally
- Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) and admission to practice in California preferred
- 5+ years of combined significant experience at in-house and law firm on patent prosecution and life-cycle management related to biologics/gene therapy

- Conduct strategic IP due diligence and analyze patent portfolios of competitors and potential collaborators
- Identify opportunities to expand the Company's IP position and collaborate with various departments within the company
- Communicate and work with external strategic partners to develop a global IP strategy
- Review and negotiate license agreements and IP clauses in other agreements
- Manage the use of outside legal counsel globally
